Aleynikov taking theft issues lightly?

We've been predicting that the Sergey Aleynikov code theft case will end with more of a whimper than a bang. In the long, front-page article in the New York Times recently, we sensed that Aleynikov is either taking this lightly, is supremely confident or clueless.

I was surprised that Aleynikov has relied on a public defender in this ordeal, who answered for him in the article. A public defender Presumably, he's able to afford a decent salary. He also waived his rights "against self-incrimination, and agreed to allow agents to search his house." Maybe he really is just a klutz. It remains to be seen if prosecutors really have anything they can charge him with. Some are surprised that the FBI arrested him.
