Data center containers a good idea?

When it's time to expand your data center, it makes economic sense to take a modular approach, adding physical capacity only as you need it. There are many benefits in terms of costs and maintenance. Why not standardize the conditions in which your hardware works? No wonder that the idea of containers seems to be catching on. Wall Street & Technology notes that "self-contained data centers in a box"--from stalwarts like Sun and HP, two big players in financial services, as well as the likes of Rackable and CoolCube--are "migrating from the original, freestanding trailers to a modular design of boxes that snap right into a building's architecture, like Lego blocks."
