Demand for finance techies still strong
With all this talk of budget rationalization, you're likely wondering what's up on the job front. There are a host of projects up in the air right now. The two most likely not to be significantly scaled back are compliance projects and risk management projects. So if that's your specialty, you're in good shape. Beyond those two areas, you would be hard pressed to discern any real job panic. One survey has indicated continuing demand across the board from quantitative analysts to more traditional IT jobs, Oracle and SAS engineers and the like. This could change of course. No one thinks that top banks are in the clear on the earnings front.
