E*Trade bets on Vaultus for mobile solution

E*Trade and other discount brokerages seem to be betting on mobile trading as a must-offer solution. While mobile trading is hardly new at the online brokers, E*Trade made a big move late last year to boost the user experience by deploying software from Vaultus. This software promises faster mobile applications via enhanced data compression and network optimization. For E*Trade, the partnership seems to be paying off.

Wall Street & Technology reports that following the deployment of the Vaultus technology, daily average revenue trades via the mobile system increased 139 percent. The brokerage's BlackBerry app offers watch lists, portfolio tracking, real-time stock and options quotes, and the ability to trade equities and options. An iPhones app is in the works. You can bet Charles Schwab and the others have some interesting plans as well.
