E*Trade launches iPhone app

We noted recently that E*Trade was bent on beefing up its mobile offering, relying in part on technology from Vaultus and BlackBerry. Now it has launched an iPhone and iTouch app. It seems that more retail brokerages are optimizing applications for both. The app is available for free from the Apple App Store, notes Wall Street & Technology. In addition, Quicken has launched some iPhone apps.

Interestingly, it does not appear that the new iPhone version is built, either in full or in part, using the framework that Vaultus put in place for the BlackBerry version. Wasn't that positioned as part of the overall value they brought to the table? The ability to go cross platform? I guess that didn't work out?
