Goldman Sachs, Barclays join forces on database advisory group
Why not get the smartest guys and gals in the room and let them exchange ideas, experience, and solutions? This has been a holy grail for CIOs inside investment firms as they deal with regulation, disruptive technologies and older problems that never appear to get fixed.
With this in mind, there's a new consortium in town. 10gen announced the MongoDB Financial Services Advisory Group, a collaborative body that will discuss the challenges pertaining to MongoDB, 10gen's open-source database solution and development environment. The Advisory Group will meet twice a year to discuss common use cases and identify strategic growth opportunities for the NoSQL database language.
Charter members will include technologists from MetLife, Barclays and Goldman Sachs.
"We are pleased to be hosting the first Advisory Group meeting and support 10gen's efforts to bring technology professionals together to discuss the enterprise opportunities and challenges faced by the financial services community today, and to work toward more optimal NoSQL solutions within our organizations," says Warren Finnerty, managing director in the Technology Division and head of the Global Database team at Goldman Sachs.
