Have you launched a pilot program recently?

So how many new, tech pilot programs do you have underway? U.S. Bank has several, including one six-month program that just wrapped and focused on near field communication in Spokane, Wash., according to ContactlessNews. One conclusion was that merchants, while open to contactless payments, still are lagging just a bit in terms--which confirms the general consensus in the industry. So to really jump start contactless payments, you may need a bridging technology--like the contactless sticker than can be affixed to phones.

Ideally, the phone itself would include the technology to enable mobile payments. Other pilots include standard mobile banking and text alerts for phones that do not have browsers. Other pilot programs look at contactless payments and vending machines in conjunction with the use of the Visa Micro Tag, a small contactless payment key fob. You can use the fob to make vending machine purchases. This isn't going to change the world, but you've got to experiment with stuff to get it right.
