There has been a lot of press recently about the rise of mobile financial applications. But a ZDNet item poses an obvious question: How secure are all those mobile applications. The article notes that the belief that there are no mobile viruses is incorrect. One piece of mobile malware (with an ungainly name) is making its way around Asia and might spread from there. This is an issue that banks are going to have to grapple with soon.

The rise of mobile apps in general makes this an especially timely issue for the industry. And the danger is that clever hacks could easily fool you into thinking that you're getting an app that is really a piece of code that might be able to muck with your accounts. The issue certainly demands attention at the technology and marketing levels.
