A hint of the future? According to USA Today, a mobile phone app developer, whose call name is 09Droid, offered more than 50 mobile phone apps for sale on the Android Marketplace. That in and of itself does seem odd. 50 apps? You have to wonder what they do.

As noted by F-Secure, they might simply connect the user with a bank's log-in page. Any buyer of the app likely have been sorely disappointed. But the app might have been much more malicious. It may have captured personal log-in information and more.

Google has deleted all the apps from its marketplace. Top banks have warned customers not to use them. F-Secure executives note that Android apps "do not go through an approval process akin to the certification process" required of apps in iPhone App Store or through Signed by Symbian programs.
