Citigroup (C) certainly has a lot on its plate right now, which we've discussed in full over at FierceFinance. But while there have been plenty of distractions related to the overall health of the financial services industry, it's fair to say that work has not ground to a halt. The mobile services units seem to be itching to move ahead.

The American Banker suggests that the bank's mobile strategy may be on the verge of a breakthrough. Multiple divisions across the bank had previously been working on discrete pieces of the mobile offering, resulting in multiple vendor relationships. But the bank is moving to corral all that activity in search of a seamless solution. It may result in some dropped vendors. The bank, for example, has launched an updated iPhone app, an effort that includes mFoundry and Mobile Money Ventures. The app offers credit card information, which was previously available via another app launched with Firethorn. That relationship is now being reviewed.
