Most respected financial IT vendors?

A recent Aite Group survey asked financial institutions executives which vendors they most admire. The result was a timely look at the industry and which vendors are poised to fare the best in 2010. At a time when spending has been reduced or at least slowed, it's important to keep your brand in the mix, so to speak.

There's no winner or loser here, but the one firm that seems to have fared well through the recession is IBM. Which Aite says "underscores the continued dominance" of the firm in the IT world. It was named as the most admired in four of eight categories--IT services, server hardware (along with HP), business intelligence and business process management. Other vendors faring well include Fidelity in core banking, Microsoft in databases, EMC in storage services, and Cisco in security information and event management. This sort of admiration is not a perfect proxy for sales when the environment improves, but it's a helpful guide.
