More data centers in New Jersey

When it comes to Wall Street, speed kills--either you or your competition. In an effort to build lower latency services, many firms are setting up shop in New Jersey, which has become something of a hub for co-located services for financial firms (financial services news).

A great example of this: The NYSE Euronext's plans to build a state-of-the-art data center in Mahwah, New Jersey (NYSE Euronext news). Web Host Industry Review also notes that a stream of vendors are moving into the area, led by Savvis and Equinix. Savvis leases space adjacent to its Weehawken, New Jersey data center, and could add up to 105,000 square feet of space to support its financial offerings. The New York Internet Company, which sells mainly to the financial services industry, is building a 40,000 square foot facility to support data center operations. So is New Jersey the next data center capital of the world? Let's hope the Mob doesn't try to muscle in. (Just kidding).
