Time to act on mobile security?

Mobile security is one of those issues that top banks are really just now starting to think through. Barclays generated a few headlines not too long ago with its free mobile security download, to guard against viruses, spam and theft. Messaging solution firm Clickatell has just launched a service that uses text messages to notify users when their accounts record a transaction. The customer then either verifies or cancels the transaction. The cancellation occurs at the transaction point, which means that it can protect against cyber theft as well as theft that stems from the physical theft of cards and checkbooks, reports GoMo News.

It's certainly not too early to be thinking about all of this. At some point, customers are going to get really nervous. All it takes is one highly-publicized breach. For now, especially in these times of budgetary constraint, it remains to be seen how innovative the large U.S. banks will be.
