These days, they've got to be tightly integrated with the computer (calling up trading profiles when the phone rings for example) and highly functional. Increasingly, they are better integrating them into messaging systems and even order management software, notes Financial News Online. The top vendors are working hard to keep trading desks spending. Still, spending on telecom trading gear may decline a bit this year. As budgets tighten, the justification may get a bit harder.
