unembossed cards

There are certainly some advantages to unembossed credit and debit cards. These cards feature smooth printed account numbers and other information. Traditional cards use the bumpy, raised lettering; these cards must be produced offsite and then sent to the customers via a fairly complex supply chain process that can take up 10 days. Unembossed cards can be printed at the bank facility quickly, allowing the customer to walk out with a working card.

In September, Visa announced it would begin supporting the new card concept. We've seen a few more banks embrace the idea as of late. Franklin Bank & Trust, of Kentucky, last week became the latest to announce it had adopted new technology via its partnership with Dynamic Card Solutions, of Englewood, Colo. The big question is: When will the large, nationwide banks will embrace unembossed cards?
